Highly Qualified Health and Safety Consultant with over 25 Years experience in all aspects of Health and Safety, a strong business acumen and expertise in legal practices. Developed organisational strategy and led the implementation of policy and practice, involving cultural change. Demonstrates a strong track record of achieving improvements to inspection and audits, influencing change across the organisation.

Gained Board Level approval to the strategic direction of Health & Safety, following merger of a large social housing landlords. Developed and implemented the Health and Safety strategy, policy and procedures across the entire organisation.

Developed a culture of Health & Safety, through communication, training and risk assessment, introducing quarterly inspections. Turned around performance from ‘red’ status to ‘green’ within a 2 year period.

Sourced suppliers for Fire & First Aid training. Devised procedures on DSE, Electrics, Fire, Care, Lone working, Construction, Needle stick and Blood borne Infections. Collated the statistics for accidents/incidents/ near misses and presented at the quarterly committee meetings.

Trained Senior Management in key aspects of Health & Safety, developed a training plan and delivering across 85% organisation (c1000 staff) Built, trained and led a small team to support the roll out of the policy and procedures.

VOLUNTARY WORK:

Actively involved in a variety of community initiatives: Chair of Governors for 4 years at a local primary school Vice – president and general secretary of a community association Pakistan earthquake zone in October 2005, hired 15 local labourers and trained on simple health and safety issues. Recovered many dead bodies and gave them proper funerals; provided food, clothing and shelter for 1500 families. Pakistan Floods in December 2010, hired 5 local labourers and trained on simple health and safety issues. Provided food, clothing and shelter for over 500 families

Safety before anything else

Whatever you do, do it in safe mode. Rules and regulations are set in place after casualties occurred, sometimes is to late, there is no room for mistakes; may cost you dearly. Protective equipment may not be comfortable or fashionable, but do keep you away from troubles.
